FAQs

Ordering

I accept PayPal and the following payment methods via Shopify Payments: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Shop Pay, Apple Pay and Google Pay

You can only apply one code to an order and discounts don't stack, this is mostly relevant to the multibuy offer for 15% off when buying 5+ items. In this circumstance it is best to not add any discount code to make sure you get the best price. Unfortunately this is a small limitation of Shopify as it doesn't automatically pick the best option for you like Etsy does.

The free shipping offers are calculated automatically however and included on top of all sale and discount codes.

Most prints are available up to A3 in size (approx 12 x 16 inches). I am currently unable to offer prints larger than this unfortunately.

However, I am currently working on uploading many of my designs onto my Redbubble store where you will be able to purchase slightly larger prints on demand directly from them.

Yes! If you would like your order sent directly to the gift recipient, just add their details at checkout.

You can also use the add a note at checkout if you'd like to include a gift note with the order, just let me know in the box. My gift notes are hand written on a small note card.

Please note - it is a legal requirement to include an invoice for international orders. This means that the gift recipient will see how much the gift cost and may be subject to customs charges.

Shipping

All prints are carefully packaged in board envelopes with backing boards, including A3 prints.

Orders are dispatched 2-3 times per week via Royal Mail

Standard UK orders are shipped via Royal Mail First Class - shipping upgrades to Signed For and Guaranteed next day are also available.

International Orders are shipped via Royal Mail International Tracked and you will recieve a tracking number once your order is on the way.

Yes, I post worldwide and you should be able to select your country and shipping at checkout.

Occassionally, however, I will suspend shipping to certain countries if there are issues - for example I did this at the start of 2021 with orders to the EU due to the Brexit disruption. This may happen again in July 2021 due to the new EU tax reporting system until I have all the information needed to run my business legally.

If you have any issues at all with the international shipping process, drop me an e-mail at hello@printisdead.co.uk to discuss.

Orders to the UK typically take 1-2 working days to arrive after dispatch.

International delivery times vary but typically arrive within 4 weeks.

Please remember that shipping times will vary, both within the UK and from country to country. At certain times of the year this can be slower (e.g. at Christmas or during a global pandemic!) Delays also occur due to the customs clearance process - please allow extra time for your order.

Orders to the UK will not be classed as lost/delayed until 10 working days (2 weeks).

International orders will not be classed as lost/delayed until 32 working days (around 6 weeks).

If you need something for a guaranteed date please get in touch first at hello@printisdead.co.uk to discuss options.

Standard UK orders are sent via First Class which is an untracked service, unless your order is higher value. Signed For and parcels do have tracking but only after delivery has been attempted and Guaranteed is fully tracked.

All international orders are sent tracked and you will recieve a tracking number after dispatch.

Sometimes tracking may not update immediately, these are some of the common notifcations:

An update will only be provided when we attempt to deliver your item - it's in the Royal Mail network and will most likely be delivered within the next day or so.

Sender Preparing Item - it HAS been dispatched but may not have been scanned yet. Because I send via business collections they are not scanned until they are processed at my local sorting office. Ocassionally they run behind and sometimes just miss scanning. Nottingham has been particularly affected by the Covid-19 situation.

Item Leaving the UK - a package can sometimes be stuck like this for a while. It has most likely arrived in the destination country and waiting to get through customs. Sometimes they also miss scanning in the destination country, it should update as soon as it get scanned somewhere along the journey.

Unfortunately prices have risen multiple times over the last year, partly due to the Covid-19 situation and the affect of Brexit.

I also only send tracked which is more expensive than standard but does mean you can track your order and it is generally a more reliable service.

Sadly international costs are out of my hands but I do try to only charge what it actually costs me to send!

Most orders make it without a hitch but occasionally a package gets lost, delayed or damaged along the way. In any of these circumstances please get in touch via hello@printisdead.co.uk to discuss options.

If your order is damaged please make sure you take photos of the damaged package and contents as I am unable to process claims and refunds without this.

About Print is Dead

Everything on Print is Dead is my own work. As part of the design process, I may use stock imagery, textures, fonts etc. and I purchase licenses when I use these aspects. I also make use of public domain vintage imagery in parts of some designs, but everything I use is only ever part of a design and never used standalone.

Not everything - I work with different printers to produce the digital prints and products such as pocket mirrors, badges and t-shirts. Anything 'hand printed' has been produced in my own studio. I have a small block printing press which I use for my lino prints.

The name is based on the seemingly contradictory phrase 'The King is Dead! Long live the King!', so it's about the continuation of print, in a time when printed media is becoming less commonplace and about celebrating traditional printing methods. And of course, I'm selling prints inspired by the macabre so it's a little double entendre too.

I started Print is Dead during my MA in Graphic Design at Nottingham Trent University in October 2017, but I've been working commercially as a Graphic Designer and illustrator for over 10 years after originally graduating with a BA in Graphic Design from the Arts Institute at Bournemouth.

Absolutely - if you're after a different size, colour or want something created completely from scratch I am open to custom orders and will see if I can accommodate. E-mail me at hello@printisdead.co.uk and we can take it from there. You can also find more information on commission work here.

I love tattoos and I am more than happy to see my work on skin. It would be really appreciated if you do want to get a tattoo of my work, that you buy something to support my art or purchase my 'Tattoo Donation' on the online store - this is simply a small donation towards my business and I will send you a digital file of the design you're looking to get tattooed to make it easier for you and your tattoo artist.

Please also let the tattoo artist know who to attribute the design to if they share on social media - I can be found on instagram @_printisdead_ - feel free to tag me in as I love seeing the end results!

I have designed a couple of tattoos and I'm more than happy to discuss in line with my usual commissions approach - I love tattoos!

That said, I am not a tattoo artist and have no experience of the tattoo process other than getting my own ink. This means that certain aspects of my design may not be suitable for tattooing so I would always recommended discussing with your tattoo artist, they really are the best suited to this kind of work!

I try to update the store once per month, generally in line with the Monthly Macabre online market on the 1st of the month.

However, this is not set in stone and will vary over the year. Most of my prints are available in large enough quantities that you are unlikely to miss out on anything, but it's best to keep an eye on my social media channels!

Yes absolutely, if you've got something in mind just drop me an e-mail at hello@printisdead.co.uk to discuss!
